Salty bacon… That pretty much sums up Mac and Cheeza. I hate to be a hater. Well actually that is not true at all. I enjoy a good hate session. It’s all in good fun. When I made it known that I was looking for the BEST MAC N CHEESE in Los Angeles numerous people said, You need to go to *Mac & Cheeza*… Its the best… It has to be on your list. Good thing these people aren’t writing for this site because they would be steering you in the wrong direction. And I love you, so I would never want to do that. Trust me with smirk and creepy laugh.
Here is the salty on Mac N Cheeza. It is operated like a Subway, which means you build your mac n cheese from a set of choices. It’s like those puzzles that ask you to fill in adjectives and verbs, but here instead of words you must choose between classic noodles or rice noodles, chicken or bacon, mushrooms or collard greens. In that respect Mac N Cheeza is cool. I do enjoy the build your own method. Control freak over here.

I went with classic noodles, cheese base instead of soy,(This is not your grandma’s healthfood blog; this is THE GLUTTONY), the bacon and cheese topping. Coming out of heating machine on the belt my mac and cheese smelled great. My hopes were high and shortly after, like sidewalks in the winter, they were covered in salt. Let me preface this next statement with this. I LOVE SALT. I do. And with that on the table. The bacon was so salty it took control of the dish. It was just too salty and that ruined it. When I focused on the other flavors I could tell the cheese was good, but with the salty pig on top it was no bueno. Sorry Mac N Cheeza but you will not be making my top Seven best Mac N Cheeses in Los Angeles.
That is pretty much it. Sorry to disappoint and I hope I did not offend, but I have to be real with you. Because if I am not real then you can’t trust me. Again with the smirk and creepy laugh.
Envy – 3 out of 7 stars. The dish you ate wishes it could be another dish. Not worthwhile. A definite pass.

I feel like this whole customize your meal thing is getting played out. Shouldn’t the Chef be the control freak and dictate the flavors and textures? Thanks for the new posts.

I don’t mind the build your own as long as the ingredients are good. In this case the bacon was horrible.
