Eat W/Reez: Porterhouse Bistro

Posted by Reez • Wednesday July 1, 2009

Last night I went to dinner with one of my favorite people on the planet. Originally we were headed to Kitchen 24 but I wanted a steak.

We spotted Porterhouse Bistro and gave it a shot. I wanted steak and the name is Porterhouse. It was a perfect match.

The decor was simple with low lighting. The table side lamps were cool but you could tell they were cheap.

Menu

These toppings accompanied the bread. The butter was soft, that gets an A+ in my book. I hate when the butter is frozen. What am I supposed to do with that? Fried garlic was tasty. Olive pesto had too much olive.

The ceaser salad was blah. The lettuce was not cold and the parmesan cheese was not fresh. Boo!

I am big on crab cakes. These crab cakes cakes were pretty good. The outer was to crunchy. Over cooked. I prefer the jumbo lump crakes from BOA.

She won the knife fight!

Always!

Birds eye.

The bone in Filet was served with steak sauce. I thought that was a little odd. I did not taste it. As you can see the plate looks dirty. This is apart of the Bistro ambiance. Each plate is put in the oven so the steak comes out sizzling. That is not impressive to me. If your going to do that they need to take the garnishments off of the plate. Wilted parsley is gross.

Table tripping.

Cream corn was amazing. I will be ordering this more often.

Steel potato

This was the highlight of my meal. At the Bistro you get complimentary cotton candy for dessert. Not because I love cotton candy but because I thought it was a nice touch. It also looks very exciting when you see the table next to you get theirs.

There was a disconnect between the waiter and I. I tried to order two bowls of vanilla ice cream. He told me to get the chocolate cake because it was the best dessert on the menu and it came with ice cream. He did not lie but this is not two bowls of ice cream.

The chocolate cake did not taste as good as I made it look in this photo.

Would I go back? I don’t think so. There are tons of other steak houses that have much better food. It was almost delicious but there were a few things that I did not like. First the salad was not fresh. Second the dirty sizzling plate made me feel like I was at Chili’s. Last the recommendation on the dessert was a miss. First off, I asked for cheese cake and vanilla ice cream. The waited then recommends chocolate cake. That is way off from what I wanted. By saying it was the best dessert on the menu is an awful big check to write and the cake did not cash it. I will say the steak was good. Over all it was just OK.

  1. “He did not lie but this is not two bowels of ice cream. “ I hope there weren’t two bowels in the ice cream :)
